===== Notes =====
=========================================================================
Muzzle Velocity is a war simulation, by its nature
there is a large choice of commands. Start the game
as Sergeant and work your way up to higher ranks as
you get used to all commands. If you stick to this rule
and read the game guide, your effort will be rewarded
through fun and realistic battles.
** To test all features play as General. **
WARNING: If you don't read the inbuild game guide,
no matter how smart you are the computer will beat
you. READ THE GAME-GUIDE.
Buildings in Muzzle Velocity don't take any visible battle
damage. They are designed this way. Repeat hits on a building
will lead them to collapse.

===== Notes when using DOS 6.XX with the DOS Version 1.21 =====
==========================================================================
Installation:
Make sure that you read the bellow comments before you install
MV. Otherwise the memory settings for MV will be corrupted
and could result into poor performance of the game.
Memory:
To play MV you need al least 12Mb of RAM. However the 3D
part of the game will be faster if you have 16Mb of RAM.
You also need at least 480Kb of DOS memory.
Memory manager:
When using DOS 6.XX you must use HIMEM.SYS in your Config.sys
MV needs XMS memory to work, EMS can't be used.
MV works fine when using QEMM. There are no known problems.
Mouse:
You must have a mouse driver installed for MV to work.
Memory Settings:
Normally MV will determine the memory available during
installation. The following table summarizes the ideal
settings for different memory configurations. Use them
only if encountered problems with the default settings.
YOU MUST however set the smartdrive according to this
table:
RAM Smartdrive EOS.INI Memory Topography
12Mb 512Kb 4450 OFF
16Mb 1024Kb 8034 ON
+24Mb 2048Kb 11000 ON
Use these guidelines for optimal performance. The Topography
option is found in the game options screen of the game.
32bit code:
MV has real 32bit code, unlike most other games.
By definition it needs more memory than the more common
and slower 16bit games. 32bit code was selected because
of the large performance gain.
Joystick support:
MV supports any standard analog joystick. The center system
now works properly.
Old Pentium90:
MV is not affected by the FPU bug encountered on early
versions of the Pentium90.
Compag:
Some Compaqs use speakers which are integrated into the
keyboard. These machines will not be able to use the sound
engine. You will not have any sound. Also, make sure that
you use a Compaq DOS, MV will not run on a Compaq using MS
DOS.
Matrox Millenium:
If you use such a device on a non Win95 machine, its VESA
modus will not work. You must install Win95 to make your
Millenium work right.
===========================================================================
===== Notes when using Windows95 with the DOS Version 1.21 =====
===========================================================================
Installation:
You must install MV using Windows95 real DOS mode. Make sure
that you read the bellow comments before you install MV. Otherwise
the memory settings for MV will be corrupted and could result
into poor performance of the game.
Memory:
To play MV under Windows 95 without booting into real DOS
mode you need al least 24Mb of RAM. Under Windows95 real DOS
you need at least 12Mb of RAM. However the 3D part of the game
will be faster if you have 16Mb of RAM.
WIN95 DOS:
You must make sure that the CD-ROM and mouse are available
when you boot your machine under DOS mode. Refer to your
operating system manuals for further instructions.
Memory Settings:
Normally MV will determine the memory available during
installation. The following table summarizes the ideal
settings for different memory configurations. Use them
only if encountered problems with the default settings.
YOU MUST however set the smartdrive according to this
table:

===== Questions & Answers =====
=====================================================================
Q: Can't read the CD.
A: Make sure that the required DOS drivers for the CD-ROM have been loaded.
Q: I use a fast AMD or Cyrix chip, but the game will not start.
A: MV needs at least a 486 to run. Some AMD or Cyrix chips are only
386 compatible.
Q: Why are the colors so dark:
A: MV was developed using Trinitron screens. This means that
colors were adapted for such screens. Your screen might be old,
or have poor colors. Use the Gama correction in the Setup to
get better colors. Sometimes, the problem comes from your
Graphics adapter. Did you set it up to match your Screen
Refresh rates? If not, the colors could be too dark!
The ATI Mach64 and other GA have a setup software delivered
with them. Make sure you set them up correctly and under DOS
even for PC's with Win95 ( ATI and many others ) as Windows
will only init the Windows modes.
Q: I have a fast Pentium, but the frame rate is too slow to play.
A: You have a slow Graphics adapter. Following adapters work well
with MV:
ATI Mach 64 ( ALL )
Matrox Millenium
Elsa Winner 1000
or any fast graphics adapter.
Q: I can't start the Vesa modus of the Graphics adapter.
A: Install UNIVBE, you find it on this CD-ROM.
